When we started Ahrle Laurell & Partners in 2016 we had a vision to build the best boutique executive search firm on the market. We wanted to create a company that we wanted to work for, one built on strong values and with a drive to always deliver above and beyond. Going into the last quarter of 2018, we are proud and humble to the many clients that have intrusted us to support them.

Our vision with Ahrle Laurell & Partners was never to have the explicit goal to grow in terms of number of colleagues. Instead, keep our door open for the right individual(s). With Jan-Erik, there was never any doubt - we have had the privilege to work together before and delighted to welcome him aboard as we embark on AL&Ps continued journey

Karin Laurell, Founding Partner and CEO

Jan-Erik comes to Ahrle Laurell & Partners with a unique background, combining ~20 years’ of experience from top executive search and leadership services, with extensive experience from change management and HR in the technology and military intelligence sectors. Additionally, he has spearheaded the development of new innovative services, including establishing delivery centres in Europe and introducing Vietnam based technology services to the Nordic market.

Jan-Erik brings a substantial and unique cross-functional experience. He embodies the values of Ahrle Laurell & Partners; a passion for people and engaging the greatness in others with the professional skills set to always look ahead. He strategically guides clients on the leadership needed to transform and grow in a competitive environment

Lena Ahrle, Founding Partner and Chairman

Aligned with the increasing need for exceptional executives with the toolkit to embrace and use technological advances to drive change and fuel success, Jan-Erik will be a key advisor to support our clients in these challenging transitions. He brings with him a successful experience working with top executive assignment across industries but also, being a tech enthusiast himself – has a true passion for all things digital, be it the latest programming techniques or the business opportunities brought on by disruptive technology.

Jan-Erik will join Ahrle Laurell & Partners as of January 1st 2019

Almedalen – a week of interesting discussions and meetings with inspirational people

Whilst on the ferry heading to Visby I had the opportunity to reflect. Half a year has passed since Lena, Karin and I began to write the story of Ahrle Laurell & Partners. Anyone who has met us can attest to the fact that we are three strong willed individuals that love what we do. This, coupled with the fact that we had known each other for +10 years, made the leap into the dark unknown more like a coordinated jump of joy. Six months down the road we have had the great privilege of working with some truly great clients and supporting them in finding the best talent to lead their initiatives going forward. The connectiveness of a boutique firm translated to true business impact.

A core thing that brings us together is the ongoing search to make a difference. Being able to combine this with our craft is great, so when we were presented with the opportunity to support the board of Stockholms Stadsmission, the answer was a humble yes and thank you. In retrospect I do see how it might have, from a business point of view, seemed less than financially savvy for a new company to start out working with pro-bono assignments. Six months down the road, it was the best of decisions and gave us truckloads of energy which inspires how we build our firm.

Summer is here and with it, Stockholm has a visible change of pace. The ALP team will be taking this opportunity to embrace the spirit of co-working from various locations inside and outside Sweden as well as enjoy some extra time with family and friends. But as always, the shop is never closed and you can reach us anytime. We have a busy pipeline of projects and assignments running across the summer break and we always make sure we have the time to engage and listen, to our clients and network.

This week I’ll be in Almedalen so feel free to reach out, coffee is on me. Generally, the best bet is you can find me listening to topics on human rights, sustainability, environmental issues, digital innovation and retail.

The connectiveness of working in a professional boutique firm

By UncategorisedNo Comments

Having spent over a decade working in executive search, and the benefit of for the length of this decade being part of a truly great firm, I get asked every now and then why take the leap and what the difference is transitioning from the big firm to a boutique firm setting?

A main reason why I decided to take the leap was a dream of mine to be part of building something. But as with most things it comes down to timing so when the opportunity came to realize this long term dream together with two great people I have the utmost respect for – the choice was simple. We also share one key thing which goes beyond delivering the very best leadership services; we feel it is our responsibility to always strive to make a difference. This can be expressed in many ways, e.g. by now most people know the time of the year when I for 4-6 weeks shed the suit and travel to my home away from home – volunteering for a wild life sanctuary in Borneo. But more on that later.

With the team approach as a core, it has been natural to combine our individual strengths and spikes for each project – staying continuously connected and having ideas flow freely without the encumbrance of barriers or the distraction of having to many parallel projects. An old saying is the challenge for a client in being the small fish in a big pond. In a boutique setting our clients and executives are always at our fingertips – so in a similar analogy we have a fish tank of selected clients, each one is always visible and as each one is unique we can follow their development and tailor actions for each step.

Many people who has visited our office comment on the energy, the visible passion and the true commitment we have for what we do. This always makes me smile, as the office is every day buzzing with activity it truly shows how much fun we have together. But, as much as we feel the success of our clients, we are also with them for every nook, road bump and curve throughout the process. Their success is what drives us forward.

As every company has a story to tell – I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of writing Ahrle Laurell & Partners’ story, and hoping it not only inform, deliver and engage, but that will also make an impact.

Ahrle Laurell & Partners – combining extensive experience from executive search with the highly personalised service of a professional boutique firm.

By UncategorisedNo Comments

Founded by Lena Ahrle and Karin Laurell and joining forces with Kjerstin Blomquist, Ahrle Laurell & Partners is built on more than five decades of experience and insights from executive search.

“We started Ahrle Laurell & Partners with the goal of building a firm based on strong values and a common drive to never settle, and always push ourselves to deliver above and beyond. At the centre lies the many clients and executives we have had the privilege to work with, a continuous source of inspiration”, says Karin Laurell, CEO & Founding Partner.

The market for professional leadership services continues to grow and change in ways most people never imagined. We at Ahrle Laurell & Partners see the possibility to distinguish ourselves from the crowd by using unique strategies and with a modern take on executive development, find the best solution for each client and executives.

“The future success for our clients and society is one based on equality and inclusion – a vision we have for almost 20 years strived to contribute to. The last few years we have been delighted to see a clear transition from speaking about gender equality to working with inclusion of competence and diversity in management. The business results speak for themselves – diverse organisations achieve better results”, says Lena Ahrle, Chairman & Founding Partner.

As businesses and organisations are continuing to transform and adapt to the new digital opportunities, Ahrle Laurell & Partners have the agility to swiftly adapt and be the disruptive innovator of the business.

“Digital tools are changing in the way we work and communicate. Long gone are the days when a company could recruit a digital executive and rely on this person to be the go-to-person for all things digital. Instead, there is a need for all executives to embrace digital fluency in the same way as we have long viewed communicative abilities. For us at ahrle laurell and partners, this embrace of technology is a natural way forward” says Kjerstin Blomquist, COO.
